The first time I registered to bid for an internet adoption I brought home my first mustang, Red.  I wasn’t quite sure what I had in store for me. I had broke many young horses before but wasn’t sure how much of a challenge this would be.  My mother and I planned the 8 hour trip to Wheatland, WY. We started out early in the morning leaving from Rhame, ND.   After a long day of driving I finally arrived there at dark.  We made the trip in February so we were unsure that the weather would hold out for us.  The next morning we awoke bright and early so we could go see my new horse and finish paperwork, and then get on the road again.  I was so excited and he cooperated with us for loading and we were on the road. He didn’t take long to warm up to me as soon as we got home.  Red was a 2 year old when we picked up him, and now 2 years later he’s become my favorite riding horse!  I worked every day with him and he caught on to training very fast.  I was very amused with Red because he has a completely different “horseinality” than any other horse has.  He loves to play and be curious!  Now Red has been riding out alone, working cows, and ponying colts for me.  This summer he started tracking steers and a person would think that he was bred for cows.  He caught on right away and down the road I foresee him as a great kid’s ranch horse.   I am very happy with me decision on bringing a wild mustang home. I have been waiting for that right one again as I browse the online adoptions.       –Allison Getz   Rhame, ND
